How Plaid Migrated to TiDB: Key Insights from the Journey

Plaid, a leading fintech company, faced significant challenges with its Amazon Aurora database—frequent downtime and high maintenance costs. In early 2023, they encountered over 100 minutes of downtime and 26 weeks of engineering effort just upgrading from Aurora 5.6 to 5.7. But in 2025, they achieved something remarkable with TiDB.

Join Brian Xie, Software Engineer at Plaid, as he shares how a team of just six engineers successfully migrated nearly 100 services from Aurora to TiDB with zero downtime and minimal effort. In this LIVE webinar on March 20, 2025, you will learn:

• The methodology behind Plaid’s TiDB migration

• Strategies for accelerating TiDB adoption

• How Plaid reduced maintenance burdens with zero-downtime upgrades

This is an excellent opportunity to gain insights from a real-world database migration that can help your team reduce database maintenance overhead and increase efficiency.

The Future of Data Observability: Actionability, Cost, and Standardization

In the era of mission-critical data and AI-readiness, three major data engineering trends are shaping the industry:

✅ Actionability Over Alerts – Teams are moving beyond alert fatigue to intelligent insights and automated resolution

✅ Cost Optimization Is Now Critical – FinOps is evolving from tracking spend to proactive cost and efficiency tuning

✅ Standardization of the Data Stack – Enterprises are consolidating architectures with lakehouse adoption and full-stack observability across data, pipelines, infra, and cost

Yet, data engineering still lags behind software teams in monitoring pipelines, data quality, infra performance, and cost. Traditional solutions aren’t enough.

Last week at Gartner D&A Summit, I sat down with Roy Daniel & Tom Bar-Yacov, co-founders of definity, to dive into these trends, key gaps, and what’s next:

• The missing layers in data observability impacting enterprises.

• The shift from monitoring to proactive resolution and cost optimization.

• How CICD validation prevents costly failures before deployment.

🚀 AI to Write 90% of Code in Just 6 Months?

The CEO of Anthropic has made a bold prediction—AI will write 90% of code within just six months. If true, this could reshape the entire software development landscape. But what does this mean for developers, enterprises, and the future of coding?

💡 Key Questions to Consider:
🔹 Will AI-generated code match human creativity and problem-solving?
🔹 How will developers shift from writing code to reviewing and refining AI outputs?
🔹 What challenges could arise in security, debugging, and innovation?

The evolution of AI in coding isn't just about automation—it’s about augmentation. While AI can accelerate software development, human expertise remains crucial for architecture, security, and complex problem-solving.

📢 What do you think? Will AI dominate coding, or is this prediction overly ambitious?
