Meta Launches Style Sketch Its New AI Powered Fashion Design App

Meta has quietly introduced a new AI-powered fashion application called Style Sketch, designed to help users build and visualize outfits using clothing they already own. The app integrates with Instagram to automatically construct a virtual wardrobe from photos a user has previously shared on the platform. Alternatively, users can populate their digital closet manually by taking photos, recording short videos, or uploading images directly from their camera roll.
Once a wardrobe has been established, Style Sketch generates outfit combinations tailored to the user's personal style. The app also features a virtual try-on function that places selected outfits onto what its description calls a "realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone," giving users a more personalized preview of how clothing combinations might look.
The application was first identified by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who flagged its existence publicly. Style Sketch is currently available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, with versions for both iOS and Android. Meta has not made any public statement about the app, and it remains unclear whether the company intends to expand its availability to additional markets.
A Crowded Market With Familiar Faces
Style Sketch enters a space that already has a number of established players. Several startups and larger platforms have built tools that allow users to digitize their wardrobes and experiment with new outfit ideas using artificial intelligence. Companies like Alta have been operating in this niche for some time. Even Google Photos has incorporated features that allow users to convert pictures of their clothing into a browsable digital wardrobe and use those items to assemble new looks.
Given the competition, Meta's primary advantage may not be the concept itself, but rather the app's deep connection to Instagram. Because millions of users already document their daily outfits and fashion choices on the platform, Style Sketch can tap into an existing visual archive of personal style without requiring users to start from scratch. That built-in integration could give Meta a meaningful edge over standalone wardrobe apps that require more manual setup.
Features Designed Around Everyday Use
Beyond basic outfit generation, Style Sketch includes a feature that lets users anchor suggestions around a specific item. Rather than receiving entirely random combinations, a user can select a particular piece of clothing from their wardrobe and receive outfit ideas built specifically around that item. This approach gives users more control over the suggestions they receive and makes the tool more practical for day-to-day planning.
The app also includes a travel planning component. Users who are preparing for a trip can enter their destination, the length of their stay, and the activities they plan to take part in. Style Sketch then generates a day-by-day outfit plan that factors in both the local weather forecast and the user's planned itinerary. This feature positions the app as a broader lifestyle tool rather than simply a style suggestion engine.
Part of a Broader Push Into AI Applications
Style Sketch is one of several new AI-driven applications Meta has released in recent months. The company recently launched Waddle World, an app that draws comparisons to the classic Tamagotchi virtual pet format but incorporates AI-driven interactions. Meta has also introduced Pocket, a tool aimed at users who want to build simple games through a process known as vibe-coding, and Vibes, an application that enables users to generate short AI-powered videos quickly and easily.
This surge in new product releases reflects a deliberate strategic direction at Meta. Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg had communicated to staff that the company intends to ship far more apps going forward than it has done historically. According to that report, advances in AI-driven development tools have significantly reduced the time and resources required to build and launch new applications, making it more practical for Meta to pursue a higher volume of product releases across different categories.
Style Sketch represents one of the more consumer-facing examples of this approach, blending social media integration with everyday utility in a category - personal fashion - that has broad appeal across demographics. Whether the app gains traction beyond its initial three-market rollout will likely depend on how well Meta leverages its existing user base and whether the Instagram integration proves to be as seamless in practice as it appears on paper.
