Meta Launches Early Access Program Giving Users First Look at New Muse Features
Author : Ravit Jain
Following a wave of announcements at its Connect 2026 developer conference earlier this week, Meta has opened the door for users to request early access to the latest features coming to its Muse AI application. The company confirmed on Friday that users can now signal their interest in trying out new Muse capabilities ahead of a broader rollout, simply by asking the AI assistant itself to add them to the list.
Meta shared a direct prompt via its official Muse account on X, inviting users to click through and have Muse submit their early access request on their behalf. For those who prefer not to follow an external link, the prompt can be entered manually into the Muse interface: "Can you let the Muse team know I want to be part of the Muse early access program?" Once submitted through the app, the request is logged with Meta's team.
A Different Approach to Beta Testing
Most technology companies run pilot programs or beta tests using randomized user groups, a method that allows them to A/B test features and collect structured feedback across a broad and varied sample. Meta is taking a notably different path with Muse. Rather than selecting participants at random, the company is actively targeting AI enthusiasts - people who already use multiple AI tools and agents on a regular basis and have a working familiarity with the competitive landscape.
That strategy carries a specific logic. Early adopters in the AI space tend to have a sharper eye for what works, what does not, and how a product compares to alternatives already on the market. By gathering feedback from this segment first, Meta positions itself to refine Muse's new features with input from users who are most likely to stress-test them thoroughly. It also helps the company maintain momentum against a growing field of competing AI assistants and agent platforms.
What New Features Are on the Way
Meta offered a detailed preview of upcoming Muse capabilities during the Connect 2026 conference. Among the most notable announcements was the introduction of a digital avatar for Muse - a visual representation of the AI that users will be able to engage with through video chat. This marks a significant step toward making interactions with the assistant feel more personal and conversational, moving beyond text-based exchanges.
The company also announced a substantial expansion of Muse's shopping integrations, with more retail partnerships and connectors being added to the platform. These additions are expected to make Muse a more capable tool for product discovery, price comparison, and purchase assistance, building on commerce-related features that have already begun appearing within Meta's broader ecosystem.
On the desktop side, Meta confirmed that the Muse Mac application is set to receive a meaningful upgrade. The app will gain the ability to interact directly with a user's computer to complete tasks autonomously - a feature that brings it closer in line with so-called "computer use" capabilities that have been emerging across the AI industry. This type of functionality allows an AI agent to navigate applications, manage files, and execute multi-step workflows without requiring constant manual input from the user.
Muse Comes to AI Glasses
Perhaps one of the more forward-looking announcements from Connect 2026 was the confirmation that Muse will be integrated into Meta's lineup of AI-enabled smart glasses. Once that integration is live, wearers will be able to summon and interact with the Muse assistant entirely through voice - triggering it with a wake word and then issuing spoken commands, without needing to reach for a phone or open an app.
This move reflects a broader industry push toward ambient computing, where AI assistance is woven into everyday objects and accessible without deliberate device interaction. For Meta, it also represents a natural extension of the hardware investments the company has made in its smart glasses line, which has steadily grown in capability and user adoption over the past several years.
With early access requests now open, Meta is clearly looking to build enthusiasm and gather real-world feedback ahead of what appears to be a significant expansion of the Muse platform. Users interested in being among the first to experience these features can submit their request directly through the Muse app today.
