ElevenLabs Reaches $22 Billion Valuation After Doubling Its Worth
Author : Ravit Jain
Voice AI company ElevenLabs has announced a tender offer that values the business at $22 billion, effectively doubling its valuation from the $11 billion figure it achieved when it closed a $500 million funding round back in February. The move allows employees to sell a portion of their vested equity, giving staff a concrete financial return on their shares without waiting for a public market listing.
The tender offer, totaling $300 million, was co-led by Wellington Management and T. Rowe Price, two major institutional investors with a track record of backing high-growth private companies and holding their positions through to an eventual IPO. The transaction gave eligible employees a structured opportunity to convert some of their equity into cash by selling shares directly to those incoming investors.
A Retention Strategy Gaining Traction Across AI Sector
The move reflects a broader pattern taking shape across the artificial intelligence industry. Fast-growing AI startups are increasingly turning to employee liquidity events as a way to retain top talent and reduce the incentive for staff to seek opportunities elsewhere. By offering a tangible financial reward before any public offering, companies can keep experienced employees engaged during critical periods of growth.
For ElevenLabs, this marks the second time the company has authorized such a secondary transaction. The first took place in September 2025, when the company ran a $100 million tender offer at a valuation of $6.6 billion. The progression from $6.6 billion to $11 billion to $22 billion within roughly a year underscores the pace at which the company has grown in perceived market value.
About ElevenLabs
Founded in 2022 and headquartered across New York and London, ElevenLabs has built its reputation on generating highly realistic human voices and sound effects using artificial intelligence. The technology has attracted widespread attention for the quality and nuance of its audio output, positioning the company as one of the leading players in the voice AI space.
With a valuation now standing at $22 billion, the four-year-old startup has entered the ranks of Europe's most valuable private technology companies - a significant milestone for a business that is still less than half a decade old. The company's rapid ascent in valuation reflects strong investor confidence in the commercial potential of AI-generated audio and voice synthesis technologies.
Co-founder and CEO Mati Staniszewski leads the company as it continues to scale its platform and expand its commercial footprint across industries that rely on voice-based applications, from media and entertainment to customer service and accessibility tools.
Institutional investors such as Wellington Management and T. Rowe Price have long used pre-IPO investment strategies to secure positions in high-growth private companies, and their involvement in this tender offer signals continued confidence in ElevenLabs' long-term trajectory. Whether the company moves toward a public offering in the near term remains to be seen, but the structure of these transactions suggests that both the company and its backers are preparing for that possibility.
