Amazon Unveils Two New Bee AI Personal Devices Starting at Just $75
Author : Ravit Jain
Amazon's AI wearable subsidiary, Bee, has introduced two new personal AI devices following its acquisition by the e-commerce giant last year. The company announced the Bee Frontier - a wearable that can be clipped to clothing or worn on the wrist - and the Bee Eclipse, a compact card-sized gadget designed to attach magnetically to the back of a smartphone.
The Bee Eclipse positions the brand in more direct competition with dedicated AI capture devices such as the Plaud Note and similar products, though Bee is entering that space at a notably lower price. The Frontier is priced at $74.99, while rivals like the Plaud Note retail at $159 (or $189 for the Pro version), and the Pocket AI device comes in at $129. The Bee Eclipse is priced at $99.99.
The Frontier will be offered in three color options - Onyx, Lavender, and Sage - while the Eclipse will be available in Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush.
What These Devices Actually Do
Both new devices carry forward the core concept that defined the original Bee product: using artificial intelligence to passively capture and process everyday conversations, helping users retain important information and convert it into something useful. Rather than requiring manual note-taking, the Bee listens in and then surfaces summaries, action items, and insights from what was discussed.
Practical use cases include social planning - if you verbally agree on a time and date to meet someone, the device can automatically generate a calendar invite based on that exchange. Students could use it to record and summarize class lectures, while patients might find value in having it document conversations with healthcare providers, such as a post-appointment care plan.
Subscription Tiers and Feature Access
All Bee devices include conversation summaries and recaps at no additional cost, along with 14 days of memory storage. For users who want expanded functionality, a Bee Pro subscription is available at $11.99 per month. That tier unlocks unlimited conversation summaries, integrations with Amazon's shopping platform, Alexa+, and a range of third-party applications. Pro subscribers also gain access to suggested to-do lists, daily memory digests, a personal chat assistant, and customizable conversation templates.
Privacy Architecture and Data Handling
Given the sensitive nature of always-on audio capture, Bee has built its devices around a private computing security model. Raw audio from conversations is not stored at any point. Instead, audio is processed in real time and then immediately deleted from the system. Transcripts generated from those conversations are encrypted using keys that are created and controlled by the user's own device, meaning that no third party - including Amazon staff - can access those files without the user explicitly choosing to share them.
Users also have the option to connect their Bee device to Alexa, which enables Amazon's Echo hardware to use its Voice ID feature to recognize when a specific user is speaking. When activated, this allows the Echo to capture conversations and feed them into Bee's analysis pipeline. This integration is entirely optional, and Amazon states that users can delete transcripts and summaries at any time.
Amazon and Third-Party Integrations
With the new Amazon and Alexa connectivity, Bee users can place orders on Amazon.com directly through the platform, or ask Alexa to read back their Bee-generated insights, summaries, or task lists - all without needing to touch a screen.
The devices also integrate with widely used productivity tools. Connections with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook allow the Bee to draft emails, schedule meetings, and surface relevant action items based on recorded conversations.
Beyond productivity, users can upload photos to the Bee platform or link the device with Apple's HealthKit to incorporate health and wellness data into the insights the device provides.
Hardware Specifications
Both the Frontier and the Eclipse share a minimal hardware design, featuring a single button for powering the device on and off, along with an indicator light that activates when the device is processing and summarizing a conversation.
The Bee Frontier includes additional hardware features suited to daily wear:
- IP67 water resistance rating
- Up to seven days of battery life on a single charge
- USB-C charging support
- Dual microphones with advanced noise filtering technology
Both devices are accompanied by a companion mobile application, which has undergone a full redesign alongside the hardware launch. A new desktop application has also been introduced as part of the updated ecosystem.
Availability
The Bee Frontier is currently available for purchase through Amazon. The Bee Eclipse is expected to follow shortly after, with availability to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
